Laptops and Other Technology Items for Checkout
When instructors are not using the Mobile Computer Lab, students may check out the laptops for use. Laptops are checked out through the Help Desk. To checkout a laptop, students must have a current UHSSL student ID. The ID is maintained on file while the student has the laptop and will be returned when the laptop is turned in.
Other items are available for checkout with the laptops including a mouse, portable 250 MB Zip drive, CD-RW drive, secondary battery, and a battery adaptor.
To keep the batteries maximally charged, the laptops are not available 1 hour prior to their scheduled use by a class or 1 hour after their use by a class.
In addition to the laptops, other items can be checked out for use by students. These items are checked out through the Help Desk and include mice, portable 250 MB Zip drives (for 100 and 250 MB Zip disks), 802.11b (Wi-Fi) wireless network interface cards (NIC's), network cables, headphones, a digital camera, digital camcorder, and USB extender cable. A current UHSSL student ID is required to check out these items.
