Technical Support For Faculty Laptop Computers
The Information Technology Department at UH Sugar Land provides technical support for university-issued laptop computers. This support service will be provided under the following guidelines:
- Faculty will bring their laptop computer to the Help Desk on the third floor of the UHS Sugar Land building between the hours of 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM Monday through Friday. There is no technical staff available to work on the laptop computers on the weekend.
- Please remember that the technical staff has multiple duties at the center and may not be at the Help Desk when you walk up. However, a phone is available at the Help Desk so you may contact them to let them know you are there.
- When you bring your laptop computer in, the technician on duty will enter your contact information and problem description into the support database. They will also attempt to run an initial diagnostic assessment at intake. If they are unable to run the assessment at intake, they will collect and secure the laptop until they can run it. Your presence is not necessary to run the initial diagnostic summary but you are welcome to be there if they are able to run it immediately.
- Once the initial diagnostic assessment is run, the technician will e-mail you with an update. The update may indicate that the problem has been corrected and the laptop is available for pick-up. The update may also indicate that the problem is either a hardware or software related issue and describe what is being done to correct it.
- When the laptop has been fixed and is ready for pick-up, the technical staff will e-mail you.
Mark Roskey and Amit Patel are the technical staff members responsible for the support process. Other technical staff members may also be used in the support process. However, any questions on your laptop should be sent to Mark or Amit. Their contact information is:
