Safety & Security

Mission Statement

Coordination and implementation of Safety, Security and Risk Management program policies and compliance. Assist with identifying environmental and physical safety hazards and controlling such hazards through protective equipment, hazard mitigation methods and training programs for Faculty, Staff and Students.

Campus Safety

The UH Sugar Land (UHSL) Security Office is located on the first floor of Brazos Hall in room 174. Security can be contacted at slsecurity@uh.edu and at 281.275.3302.

UHSL works closely with the University of Houston Department of Public Safety (UHDPS) to maintain a safe environment. It is important that students, faculty, and staff take an active role in safety on campus by being security conscious at all times and by reporting suspicious persons or situations immediately. UHDPS maintains a Daily Crime Bulletin of reported activity.

Classrooms are equipped with phones that can be used to reach the security officer on duty or to call 911 for emergencies.

Each October, UHSL makes the campus safety report available in the Security Office, Room BH 174 for all interested parties. More information on campus safety can be found at the UH Police Department website. The UHSL campus crime and security report can be found here. The reports for UH can be found here.

Children on Campus

The UH Sugar Land buildings and grounds have been designed with adults in mind. Unattended children are not allowed on campus. Children brought to campus must be supervised by an adult at all times. Faculty permission must be obtained prior to bringing a child 17 or under to class.
